Welcome Aviation Fans

collage of aircraft

As we enter our second year on the internet, we decided it was time for a few changes and knew it had to be more than just a "face-lift" if we wanted to continue to grow. In the past, we presented you with original photographs and basic fact sheets of our featured aircraft. Now in addition to that we are looking to expand by offering articles geared towards the maintenance side of military aviation. We feel this move will allow us to offer something unique to the aviation world as well as highlight the hard work and dedication required to maintain these magnificent war machines. After all, everyone should know that...

“ If it wasn't for the aircraft mechanic, pilots would just be pedestrians in leather jackets and cool sunglasses. ”

And it is our desire to show that to the general public by providing a behind the scenes look into what it's like to be an aircraft mechanic in the world of military aviation.

Still 100% Original

Despite the changes here at Flight Chief Aviation we are holding true to our philosophy of offering original content. If we didn't take the picture (or it was submitted to us) we will not post it on our website. This allows us to provide you with new and exciting material every time you visit.

A Virtual Walk Around

Our first featured article is a virtual walk-around of the A-10 Thunderbolt II and is presented in the same manner used during military "Dog and Pony" shows. It is designed to be a simple introduction to the aircraft without getting too technical while offering enough information to provide an understanding of the unique features of the aircraft.
  purchase an A-10
If you would like to own a replica of the A-10 Thunderbolt II, we highly recommend a company called Pacific Aircraft. They specialize in creating high quality handcrafted models of military aircraft and feature one of the most realistic renditions of the A-10 we have been able to find.

The Mechanic's Creed

Upon my honor I swear that I shall hold in sacred trust the rights and privileges conferred upon me as a certified mechanic. Knowing full well that the safety and lives of others are dependent upon my skill and judgment. I shall never knowingly subject others to risks which I would not be willing to assume for myself, or those dear to me.

In discharging this trust, I pledge myself never to undertake work or approve work which I feel to be beyond the limits of my knowledge, nor shall I allow any non-certificated superior to persuade me to approve aircraft or equipment as airworthy against my better judgment, nor shall I permit my judgment to be influenced by money or other personal gain,...

Ask The FlightChief

As requested, we now have our "Ask the FlightChief" section up and running. So if you have questions about what it's like being a Crew Chief in the United States Air Force, send them in.

Q - What is a Crew Chief?

A - In the Air Force, Crew Chief is job title instead of an actual AFSC. It is most widely used when referring to an Aircraft Maintenance Technician. Their duties vary depending on rank and experience; but for the most part, they service, inspect and repair aircraft. For more detailed information, try a Google search for the civilian equivalent - A&P Mechanic.
